四月是奧克蘭的初秋；某晚夜深，久不能成眠，
起身赴後花園暫歇，見萬里睛空，
明月斜照，有感而作此詩。
It was late at night in April, early Autumn of Auckland.
I couldn’t fall asleep, so I went into my back yard,
seeing the clear sky and the slanting bright moon hanging in it.
So I wrote:

思想乘著清風
游走於茫茫時空
Riding on the cool breeze,
My thought is hovering in the vast space and endless time.

回憶像片片秋葉
在月光中飄舞迷朦
My memories are dancing and floating
Like leaves of the Autumn in the moonlight.

忽見妳的身影婀娜
將滿園葉兒花兒牽動
Suddenly, I see thy graceful silhouette
Shaking all the flowers and leaves in the garden.

何處傳來故鄉曲啊﹝註﹞
將我的心兒腸兒攪痛
I hear faintly the songs of my hometown,(Note)
Which devour my heart.

忙起身尋妳的芳蹤
原來是花叢下的清夢！
I get up to seek thy beautiful figure,
It turns out this is only a dream in the flowers!

註：遠在天邊的奧克蘭市，夜晚，
有時真的會聽見某處華人之家在唱故鄉的歌曲。
不過，此處有可能只是游子心靈深處之歌罷了。
Note: Sometimes I really heard some overseas Chinese
singing songs in Chinese at night in Auckland.
But the songs I hear in this poem may just be the songs in my soul.
